What is TPACK?

TPACK is a framework used by educators to assist in the successful process of integrating technology into the classroom. It speaks the convoluted, multifarious, and situated nature of teacher knowledge. The complex relationship of three principal forms of knowledge, Content (CK), Pedagogy (PK), and Technology (TK) are all at the core of the framework. True technology integration is to understand and navigate the relationships between the three components of knowledge. A teacher must be capable of negotiating these relationships in order to embody a form of expertise atypical of yet greater than that of the knowledge of a disciplinary expert (i.e.; mathematician or a historian), a technology expert (a computer scientist) and a pedagogical expert (an experienced educator).

  1. Hello, I am a student from Murcia University in Spain and this week my group and I had to answer the following questions about TPACK:
    1. What exactly is TPACK?
    2. What are the essential elements of TPACK and how are they related to each other?
    3. How would TPACK be useful for you?
    4. How TPACK is related to your degree? (We are studying Primary Education)
Your explanations really helped us with our project and we feel like we have actually learned things regarding TPACK.
Every day that goes by people are more dependent on technology so I think it is very important that teachers are able to use it. It can also make the class more interesting for the students instead of the traditional teaching ways.
Thank you very much for this information!
